If you love skiing or snowboarding and haven’t made it to the Alps yet then this may be the year to do so! The view of the Alps this morning was amazing as a ton of snow has recently blanketed the rocky peaks.

Huge snowfalls at the start of this week have brought fantastic early-season conditions to ski resorts across Europe – with more to follow. Resorts in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and Switzerland have reported falls of up to a metre in the past five days and more than 200 ski areas expect to be open this weekend. The Pyrenees are having their best start to the season for many years and Zermatt has more than 160km of piste open. – Snow-forecast.com

Here is a little taste of what the resorts here have to offer:

My apologizes to anyone who visited the Thinkworx blog in the last 24 hours. I woke up yesterday to find that the site had been hacked into with all pages displaying the image below.

As far as I can tell the server hosting the site had been compromised, probably affecting all sites hosted on the server, rather than a targeted attack on this site.

After contacting my web host (2M Host) they were quickly able to get the site restored, but unfortunately it was restored to a very old version. After several messages trying to convince them that what they restored was not the April 6th, 2008 version, as they claimed, I finally gave up and proceeded to restore the site myself. Fortunately, once I had discovered the site was compromised I checked the database contents, which I found to be intact so I immediately downloaded a backup version and used this to restore the site.

Personally this was my first time getting hacked, since it isn’t an experience that I would like to repeat even if it wasn’t a hack directly on my site, I will be more security conscious from this point out. It also turned out to be an opportunity to move to WordPress 2.5, which, by the way, if you are using WordPress you will definitely want to use, this upgrade has a nice redesign of the dashboard and back-end administration with some nice new features.

—————————————
—————————————
After doing SY0-101 and N10-003, students usually go for 642-812. A small number tries for 70-294 instead since they are more interested in 70-647 than the advanced 640-816.

I’m not a ‘crackberry‘ or a heavy cell phone user in general, but I do almost always have my phone with me and typically set it to vibrate mode. Some time back I began noticing that even when I don’t have my cell phone with me, or if I have it in a different pocket that I often fell the phone vibrating as if I am receiving a call. I instinctively reach down to answer when I realize the phone isn’t there or occasionally when the phone is there that it isn’t actually vibrating. It happens so often that I found it to be an annoyance. I have been convinced that this strange phenomenon was not common to others, I figured I must have just some unique hyper tension about receiving a call that I made myself think I was receiving a call.

To my surprise and relief, I have discovered that I am not so unique after all in this respect. I came across a CNN article entitled “Phatom Vibration shake ‘crackberry’ addicts, wherein they discuss this not so uncommon feeling.

…what a relief, now I can go back to feeling a little more normal. Let me know if you too suffer from Phantom Vibrations.

After a year of simmering, the Thinkworx blog is ready to be consumed, hopefully there are still a few subscribers to partake of the feast (OK, feast may be a little exaggerated)! To get it started off right we need a thrilling YouTube clip. Surely few things give a bigger adrenaline rush than base jumping.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD64B3uEthQ
(unfortunately the video has since been removed…but if you get a chance do a search for some winged suite base jumping videos you will see what I was referring to!)

Thanks to the Smooth Harold blog for referring to this clip and for the continued inspiration to blog.

P.S. Apparently older versions of WordPress do not support YouTube videos which ultimately was the cause for this post being temporarily removed and reposted again (even if the video is still missing). After thoughts and minor attempts at moving this blog to a different host I happened to notice that my host offered a simple upgrade procedure.
